YOU NEED TO
KNOW THIS
THE INFO
This page will fill you in on all the details that you need to know regarding your wedding photography. The chances are you’ve never done this before and hopefully, this will be of great help.
A typical day…
My most common package is a full day. In this scenario, I like to be with you from the morning preparations until the early dances at the evening reception. This for me is the best way to tell the story of your wedding. I like to try to get to know you and your guests as best I can. We spend a fair bit of time together on the day and it’s good to have fun and find out what makes you guys tick.
During the ceremony, I like to keep myself at a short distance so as not to detract from what is actually happening. It’s obviously important for me to get great shots during this time but to do this I don’t need to be right in your face!
I like to try and keep the set family portraits to around ten or so but if you feel you need a few more then that’s fine, it just takes a little longer. Around 3-4 minutes per shot is the norm during this time.
Your couple portrait shoot should take around 30-40 minutes. In the summer months, if we have a great sky in the evening, it can be worth getting outside again for a little more. Better with too many great shots, right? Oh yeah! Who doesn’t love a sunset?
During the speeches, I also like to keep a discreet distance. A camera right up in the face can be a little off-putting. I also love to get audience reaction shots during the speeches. Those real moments of emotion are brilliant.
The reception is one of my favourite parts of the day. It’s great to get on the dance floor and be amongst you all getting great shots of the party atmosphere.
Does it have to be all-day coverage?
No, Whilst most of my clients do want all day coverage I can offer shorter packages for smaller weddings etc. Get in touch with your requirements and I can tailor a package to suit.
How much does this cost?
As no two weddings are the same it’s probably best to drop me an email or text with as much info as your wedding as possible. This will help me to create a tailored price based on your requirements. If you directly email be sure to check your junk for a reply as those pesky spam filters sometimes catch us out!
If you are interested in a photo/film fusion package please mention this in your initial enquiry. This will involve a second dedicated camera operator(s) to handle filming.
For photo-only packages dates are secured with a £300 deposit increasing to £500 if a combined photo/film package is required.
What you get from me?
Final delivery is anywhere from 400-600 Hi-resolution images for you to do as you like with. The precise number is difficult to guess but somewhere around that figure is normal. These are delivered in an online gallery which makes keeping and sharing with friends very simple. All images will also be delivered on a USB stick in a presentation box.
Gorgeous albums can be added if you choose or you are also free to arrange your own albums with the images I give you.
The Fine Art albums used are of the highest quality and offer many options and sizes.
The turn around time for the digital photo package is around 8 weeks. This may be less at quieter times of the year.
are you insured?
Oh yes. Public liability and professional indemnity.
do you charge for travel?
I am based in Dumfries and happy to travel. Up to 100 miles or so from base is included. Occasionally hotel expenses the night before may need to be added if it’s an early start. Better safe than sorry with traffic conditions etc.
can we give you a shot list?
No I’m afraid not. By all means highlight any key areas of the venue or grounds you would like to use though. A shot list is like a box ticking exercise and tends to cramp creativity on the day. I do go out of my way to try and capture every little detail of the day but do it my way.
can you do an engagement shoot?
Yes! That’s a great idea for us to get to know each other and a little trial run of appearing on camera. There is a charge for this though so please ask.
can you copy this other photographer's style?
Nope. By all means send me a link to their website though. If I feel we are singing from the same hymn sheet then great but if our styles are very contrasting perhaps we are not a great match.
what time will you arrive in the morning?
Usually around 2.5 hours prior to the ceremony.
are the images we get high-resolution?
Yes they are. They are not encrypted in any way and don’t have a watermark. They are delivered under license to you for your use only. Prints can also be ordered through the online delivery system of any images.
do you retouch images or change how we look?
Not really. I may remove something from an image if it’s spoiling the shot such as a fire exit sign or the like. I don’t use photoshop to alter the look of people. All images are fully edited and coloured in the style I work with.
who will photograph us on the day?
Me! unless i have a serious accident or emergency when I will do my utmost to provide emergency cover. If you require a second shooter on the day i can arrange this too at an extra cost. This is handy if two sets of preparations need covered in separate locations.
can we meet up before booking?
Absolutely! If we can’t manage a physical meeting due to logistics etc we can FaceTime or Skype.
do we need to feed you?
I’m usually with you for ten hours or more so ideally yes please. It can be difficult to bring food and keep it fresh etc especially in hot weather. A bar meal is great or have a word with your caterer. Energy levels need to be kept up to work at full power.
how do we book?
Initially, send me an email or fill out my contact form to enquire if the date is free.
Secondly, we can arrange a meeting in person or via a video call.
Thirdly, I will issue a contract which keeps us both safe. The contract is signed and returned along with a deposit of £300 to secure the booking.
The balance is payable 21 days prior to the wedding.
